Definition and Usage
The <em>, <strong>, <dfn>, <code>, <samp>, <kbd>,
<var>, and <cite> tags are all phrase tags. They are not deprecated, but
it is possible to achieve richer effect with CSS.

Differences Between HTML 4.01 and HTML 5
In HTML 4.01, the <strong> tag defined strong emphasized text, but in HTML 5
it defines important text.
